Jason Cole, Managing Director of PrimaPorcelain, said:

"There are many reasons to add a patio to your outdoor space - it makes a great place to relax, it adds value and aesthetic appeal to the property, and according to the results of this survey, it makes your home more attractive to potential buyers.

"No wonder, then, that so many of the people who responded to this survey said that they would be more likely to make an offer on a property that already has a patio.

"Patios, lawns and other outdoor living spaces have been especially in demand since the first COVID-19 lockdown measures were announced. Brits are spending a lot of time at home right now, and with restrictions likely to remain in place throughout spring and possibly summer as well, people all over the country are scrambling to make sure they'll be able to enjoy their gardens to the full this year."

About this survey

The survey was sent to Greensquares customers in the UK and received 400 responses:

  • 335 from England
  • 38 from Wales
  • 25 from Scotland
  • 2 from Northern Ireland

These responses were submitted between 19th November 2020 and 6th January 2021.

Respondents were UK residents who use their outdoor spaces a lot - 75.5% of respondents stated that they use their outdoor spaces 'every day' in spring / summer, and a further 23.3% use their outdoor spaces 'at least once a week' in spring / summer.

Even during the colder months, the majority of respondents continue to make use of their gardens. 17% of respondents stated that they use their outdoor spaces 'every day' in autumn / winter, and a further 45.8% use them 'at least once a week' in autumn / winter.

Only 1 respondent out of 400 stated that their property does not have a garden or outdoor space at all.
